The material selection criteria involve the requirement of high strength and good corrosion resistance aluminum alloys for the matrix materials. The mechanical properties have been determined for different metal matrix composites produced from Al 6061, Al 6063 and Al 7072 matrix alloys reinforced with silicon carbide particulates. The yield strength, ultimate strength, and ductility of Al/SiC metal matrix composites are in the descending order of Al 6061, Al6063 and Al 7072 matrix alloys. Mg has improved the wettability between Al and SiC particles by reducing the SiO2 layer on the surface of the SiC. The fracture mode is ductile in nature. Keywords

In this paper, high-speed end milling of Al-Si-Mg-Fe alloy has been carried out. Straight flute end milling cutters (PCD) and high-pressure coolant were used for high-speed end milling of the Al-Si-Mg-Fe alloy materials. The cutting force depends upon the cutting speeds, depth of cuts and feed rates. The cutting temperature (heat generation in the Al-Si-Mg-Fe alloy) increases with an increase in the depth of cut and feed rate and decreases with an increase in the cutting speed. This behavior can be attributed to the precipitation hardening and thermal stability in the alloy. The distortion of the workpiece is not affected by the high-speed machining. The Al-Si-Mg-Fe alloy gives curled or easily broken chips.- An Experimental Investigation of Shielded Metal Arc Welding Processes on Duplex Stainless Steel to Control and correction of Distortion in Weldments

The present work deals with optimization of Shielded Metal Arc Welding process on Duplex Stainless steel (DSS 2205). Welding is an important technology in Duplex Stainless steel alloy application where the quality control is too important. Taguchi L9 orthogonal array method was employed to optimize the welding process parameters of DSS 2205 weld for minimizing the angular distortion after weld and improving equal percentage of ferrite and austenite content in weld metal. Four variable welding parameters and their three levels were selected and design of experiment (DOE) was implemented as per Taguchi L9 array. Descriptions of angle of deviation measurement techniques and data analysis are presented. The present investigation is to find out the best influence of welding current, Welding Speed, Welding Position and filler material on angular distortion. Keywords

Modal testing of bladed-disk assemblies is used to Identify the critical natural frequencies and mode shapes for avoiding the resonant conditions that cause high cycle fatigue (HCF) leading to premature blade and disk failures. In order to obtain the high-quality modal data necessary for accurate modal identification, experience plays a major role In understanding the strengths and weaknesses associated with the variety of testing techniques. Choices such as pre-test bladed-disk preparation, modal excitation driving point location, hammer versus shaker force excitation methods, shaker driving signal approaches, accelerometer type and location, and windowing are all important aspects that must be considered when testing specific bladed-disk configurations. Modal analysis techniques Including extraction of harmonic content and use of interference diagrams for identification of resonance conditions are presented.- Dynamic Trajectory Planning of Robot Arms

It is well known that trajectory planning for robots with many degrees of freedom is a complex task. This paper presents a new method for on-line trajectory planning for robotic arms in dynamic environments. The method presented in this paper avoids local minima by using a two-stage framework. The arms react to dynamic environments using a local and reactive planning method restricted to a subset of its configuration space. Since the subset has few degrees of freedom the computational cost of the on-line stage is very low. An off-line stage chooses the subset of the configuration space that minimizes the probability of blockades and inefficient motions.- An Investigation of Mechanical and Sliding Wear Behavior of ABS/Si3N4 Nanoparticles Fabricated by an Injection Molding

In this research work, the Polymer composites of Acrylonitrile - Butadiene -Styrene (ABS) and filler material of Si3N4nanoparticles made using an injection molding machine by varying filler content of Si3N4. During the tensile test, it observed that the tensile characteristics of the composite enhanced by adding Si3N4 nanoparticles and also observed that hardness of the composite enhanced during the Vickers microhardness test. During the study of scanning electron microscopic analysis, It observes that the fracture surface on the specimen after tensile and wear tests. Wear properties of the composite are evaluated using different filler content, load conditions, speed, and sliding distances. Wear properties of the composite are mainly affected by load conditions and sliding distance. Keywords
